What is your favourite cricket shot? Cover Drive

What is your favourite fielding position? deep mid wicket

Who do you aspire to be like? Ellyse Perry because she is an amazing all rounder and the book she wrote inspires me to become a better player. I also have a local role model Makinley blows who inspired me to believe that people from a small town can make it to the big leagues

How has your club supported you to feel included and grow your love of cricket?

By encouraging me to take the game on and giving me great opportunities.

What is the funniest thing that has happened on the cricket field?

When my representative coach(my mum) made us do themed overs. For example we did a fruit salad over where every player was a fruit.

What is one piece of advice you would like to give young girls to help improve their cricket game?

Listen to your coaches, don’t give up and make sure to have lots of fun.

Nickname: Huey

What is your favourite cricket shot? Cut Shot

What is your favourite fielding position? Wicket Keeper or Short Cover

What is your go to food before a match?
Poached eggs and avacado on toast

How has your club supported you to feel included and grow your love of cricket?

They have treated me as an equal (in the men’s teams), have allowed me to start up a ladies team and have allowed me to find the enjoyment in playing the game!

What is the funniest thing that has happened on the cricket field?

Watching a team mate bowl the ball backwards in her first season and nearly take out the central umpire in the process! The game stopped for a good 5 minutes so everyone could compose themselves!

What is one piece of advice you would like to give young girls to help improve their cricket game?

Watch the ball, believe in yourself and most of all have fun

Nickname: Sammie

What is your favourite cricket shot? Pull Shot

What is your favourite fielding position? Covers

What is your go to food before a match?
Jam doughnuts or sesame seed bar

How has your club supported you to feel included and grow your love of cricket?

EMP has allowed me to grow my understanding of the game by allowing me to get extra training in. This unlocks new shots to be added to my game and shows me how much I really love playing cricket.

What is the funniest thing that has happened on the cricket field?

During a the 2020 VMCU game I was batting very well but I'm also lactose intolerant and before I got on the field to bat I ate a bunch of chocolate, drunk milk and ate yoghurt which didn't sit right in my belly. When I reached around 35 runs I had to retire to go take a dump and get this the umpire didn't let me back on (he was a bit or a grumpy man though). Moral of the story don't eat dairy if you're lactose intolerant before batting :)

What is one piece of advice you would like to give young girls to help improve their cricket game?

Never say no to advice, try it and take in what works for you. Just keep on smiling and be you.
